A test set of the IWSD Association Competition Rules have been in effect in China for several years. This test set of rules is now being evaluated and modified. The purpose of the IWSD Association Competition Rules is to standardize guidelines for use in the Wushu Sanshou Dao competitions, sponsored by the IWSD Association. The Competition Rules are to be used in all IWSD Association sanctioned national and international competitions. A more detailed rule book will be forthcoming.

All competitors who wish to attend an IWSD Association sponsored national and/or international competition must pass the following qualifications:

1. Possesses a valid IWSD Association Member I.D.

2. Must be a permanent resident of the nation you are representing.

3. Must be recommended by an IWSD Association Affiliate school of the nation you are representing.

Competition Categories:

1. Forms Competition:

a. One External or Hard Style routine

b. One Internal Style routine

c. One short weapon routine

d. One long weapon routine

Competitors will be given a score between 1 and 10 by the panel of judges. All competitors are required to compete in this category and must receive a total of 24 points or better to be qualified to compete in the Full Contact Sparring. Your highest placement in this category will be used in your overall score.

2. Full Contact Sparring:

Points for the bout are given to the competitor who successfully applies any allowable kicking, arm striking, downing the opponent, and Push Hands techniques. Weight divisions are based on the international standard.

3. Demonstration Events:

a. Ten or more choreographed qinna techniques

b. Ten or more choreographed downing the opponent and ground control techniques

Competitors will be given a score between 1 and 10 by the panel of judges. Your highest placement of this category will be used in your overall score.

The above three categories are used for the competitor's overall martial ability standing.

2. Long Weapon Sparring
